Several years ago Dr. Tom Rainer authored a book entitled, Simple Church.  Not simple in being simple minded.  Simple in being intentional around a church’s mission and vision.  If not, a church can be tempted to try to do way too much during the week or duplicate ministries with little impact on their communities.  We want our church family to have time to impact their own families and spheres of influence in the community.  Our desire to be balanced, yet intentional, is a work in progress.  We sense we are on the right track for who we are and where we are located.  Please pray for us to that end and prayerfully consider joining us as we seek to have an impact on the corner of our community.  

 

Wednesday night programs have evolved over time at Fifth Avenue.   Several years ago we transitioned from a more traditional approach to a more intentional approach.   We believe it’s critical to build our ministries around our Mission, Vision, and Core Values.  Our Wednesday night programing is somewhat fluid.  But we want to be sure everyone understands our intentions.

 

The four-fold purposes of Wednesday nights are as follows:

 

1. To provide equipping opportunities for our adults

2. To provide excellent ministries for children and Students in our area

3. To provide intentional Connection Group opportunities with purpose

4. To provide occasional celebratory gatherings for fellowship meals and worship variety. 

 

A complimentary meal designed especially for children and teenagers is served during the school year.  (Adults are welcome too!)  Although we have some Wednesday night opportunities for all age groups during the summer, meals are not offered.  Pre-school childcare is offered year round. 

 

Here is our normal Wednesday night schedule…

 

5:30pm—Free meal (donations accepted) for all participants in Hobson Hall* (See below)

6:00pm—Free time for children and students to enjoy age appropriate games

6:30pm—Equipping U (training and participating in ministry opportunities)

6:30pm—Celebration Choir Rehearsal

7:30pm—Children and students ministries conclude

7:45pm—Pre-school childcare ends

8:00pm—Worship Team Reherasal

* In 2018, we will only have Wed. night dinner once per month.  January’s dinner will be Wed., the 24th at 5:30 pm.  PLEASE CALL CHURCH OFFICE EACH MONTH TO VERIFY DATE.  Please plan to join us!
